This paper discusses the complexity of flows in natural wind. The structure of the natural wind is described in terms of mean statistics and also spectral properties. By using the examples of simple structures the general principles of flow characteristics are illustrated. The turbulent flow makes routine analysis of recorded data difficult and alternative techniques are explored. The application of this work to design is discussed.
